Today about 415 million people worldwide are living with Diabetes . By 2040 more than half a billion people will have diabetes .

Some of the symptoms of diabetes-

Eating Healthy Food-

Eat food lower in fat and calories and high in fibres like fruits/ salads/

Green veggies and whole grains.

Avoid processed food and sugary drinks.

Exercise –

Minimum 30 minutes of daily moderate exercise is must or 150 minutes of exercise per week. It can be brisk walking or aerobic exercise.

Losing weight –

If you are overweight , losing weight will reduce the risk of diabetes . losing even 7% of your weight can reduce risk of diabetes.

Complications of diabetes-

Cardiovascular disease-

Diabetes increases risk of many heart problems like Angina, heart attack , stroke and atherosclerosis (narrowing of arteries)

Diabetic neuropathy-

Too much sugar in blood can damage nerves especially of feet causing numbness , tingling and burning or pain that starts from toes spreading upwards

Diabetic nephropathy-

Diabetes affects kidneys severely impairing its functioning

Diabetic retinopathy-

Tt affects blood vessels of eyes leading to blindness. There are many other complications that are caused by uncontrolled diabetes
